The undergraduate students supervised by the team were awarded the "Xiaoping Science and Technology Innovation Team" in 2014 for their outstanding achievements in the research on the conservation of chelonians.

The Centre has always attached great importance to the cultivation of talents, and has put the cultivation of moral character in the first place. A large number of excellent talents with solid foundation in ecology, strong awareness of conservation and professional sentiments have been cultivated through subject research and voluntary service. Among them, Gong Shiping is a professor and doctoral director of Jinan University, He Bin is a professor and doctoral director of Nanjing Agricultural University, Wang Jie is an associate researcher of Chengdu Institute of Biology, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Liu Yuxiang is a postdoctoral researcher of Department of Neuroscience of the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center, Jonathan Fong, an American student, is an associate professor of Lingnan University in Hong Kong, Frederick Yhe is the founder of Turtle Rescue International, and international student Mueti Jacob is a researcher at the National Museums of Kenya.

The team has supervised more than 400 students in research and conservation of chelonians since 1995. Five of them are postdoctoral fellows (2 international cooperation postdoctoral fellows), 25 people are doctoral students (3 international students), and 59 people are master's degree students; Nine of them were awarded excellent doctoral and master's theses in Hainan Province, four of them were awarded national scholarships for postgraduates, and one PhD international student was awarded an international-level project, 11 of them were awarded innovative scientific research projects for postgraduates in Hainan Province. And undergraduates were awarded a total of 82 projects of Innovation and Entrepreneurship Training Programme for Undergraduates, of which 21 are national-level and 21 are provincial-level projects; 133 high-quality academic papers were published in domestic and international academic journals in cooperation with their supervisors, totaling 302 people; 2 people won the international awards of China-US Green Partnership Scholarship for Sea Turtle Conservation, more than 50 people won 18 national awards and honors, such as China Youth Science and Technology Innovation Award, Xiaoping Science and Technology Innovation Team for college students, Gold Medal of China Youth Volunteer Service Competition, etc., and more than 80 people won more than 30 provincial awards, such as Hainan Volunteer Service Excellence Project.
