Species identification is an important and indispensable part of the fight against wildlife crime. In view of the difficulty and high cost of species identification in law enforcement, our team has been providing identification of chelonians and other animal specimens for law enforcement agencies inside and outside the province on a voluntary basis for a long period of time. At present, the team has provided free species identification to law enforcement agencies and wildlife protection organizations across the country for more than 400 times, which has played an important role in combating illegal trade and improving law enforcement capacity and conservation awareness. The Chinese and English versions of the The Illustrated Catalogue of Chinese Trade Chelonians Retrieval, compiled with new ideas and methods of image retrieval, have been downloaded for free from the websites of the China Wildlife Conservation Association (CWCA) and other organizations, and have been used by more than 120 countries for law enforcement and identification of chelonians, conservation management, business training and scientific popularization.
