On 16 April 2021, CCTV's “The Zhengda Variety Show--Animals’ here” reported that teachers and students from Hainan Normal University have built the first professional sea turtle rescue station among colleges and universities in China with love and professional skills. The rescue station was set up in 2013, and there are more than 1,000 volunteers who have joined into the turtle rescue work. In more than seven years, they have successfully rescued nearly 100 sea turtles and released nearly 80 of them. Most of the volunteers are students majoring in biology, and they will use their professional knowledge to rescue and heal the injured turtles. They will take care of the turtles every day, from their daily life to the preparation of the food they love to eat. In the process of rescuing sea turtles, they have built up a deep relationship with them. Bycatch in marine fisheries, widespread plastic pollution and the destruction of their nesting grounds have put this tough species, which has thrived for hundreds of millions of years, under unprecedented threat. Because of their love, the volunteers unhesitatingly devote themselves to the protection of sea turtles and use their enthusiasm to influence more people, so that more and more people will know sea turtles, love sea turtles, and join in the team of protecting sea turtles as well.
