Ocean Network: The 4th South China Sea Turtle Conservation and Release Public Welfare Event was held in Wenchang

     On December 30, 2018, the 4th South China Sea Turtle Conservation and Release Public Welfare Activity "Caring for the Ocean and Returning Turtles to Blue" was held at Xiao'ao Beach in Tongguling National Nature Reserve, Wenchang, Hainan. Nine turtles were released into the sea.

    Sun Jinwen, President of Hainan Marine Environmental Protection Association, delivered a speech stating that the association has always made protecting sea turtles its main task, and has established a protection base and sea turtle rescue station in Sansha. Since its launch in 2015, the sea turtle release event has received support from relevant departments such as the Hainan Provincial Environmental Protection Department, Tongguling Nature Reserve, Hainan Normal University, volunteers and kind-hearted individuals from all walks of life. All the sea turtles released this time came from the Sea Turtle Rescue Station of Hainan Normal University. Both the inside and outside of the released sea turtles were labeled and implanted with special chips for future observation and protection. Associate Professor Lin Liu from Hainan Normal University introduced the specific situation of sea turtle rescue and protection to the guests on site, and called on kind-hearted people to participate in the action of protecting sea turtles and restore a blue homeland for sea turtles.
