On 19 February 2016, Hainan Daily reported that Hainan Normal University and 911 International Sea Turtle Rescue are working together to rescue and guard sea turtles. Increasingly frequent human activities have created a greater threat to the survival of sea turtles, in order to retain these ancient marine life, since March 2015, Hainan Normal University and 911 International Turtle Rescue Organisation have been working together to carry out scientific research in the areas of turtle ecology and conservation biology, and to gradually establish a basic database of sea turtles in China. In June of the same year, the ‘China-US Green Partnership - Saving China's Sea Turtles’ project of the two institutions was approved to join the ‘Green Partnership Programme’ jointly supported by China's National Development and Reform Commission and the US State Department. This signifies that the project has gained high-level recognition and support from both China and the United States. From now on, in addition to the 911 Sea Turtle Hospital in Lingshui, injured turtles have a new ‘hospital’ in the Eco-park of Hainan Normal University.
