Hainan Bay Ridge Field Research Base
Date:2022-11-25

The base is located in a mountainous area 6 km east of Wanling Township, Qiongzhong County, central Hainan. The base is rich in biodiversity, with the distribution of Hainan partridge, Hainan peacock-pheasant, rhesus monkey, Cervus unicolor, Cyclemys trifasciata and other species of Class I and Class II national key wildlife protection. There are five Hainan endemic species among its amphibians, making it an ideal base for conducting field ecology research on animals and plants.

From 1998 to the present, the ecological study of Sacalia quadriocellata has been carried out by the relevant personnel of the Centre. It is the first specialized field research base of the university, which has received famous scholars from the United States, Britain, Germany, France and other countries, and has been visited by more than 50 domestic and foreign experts, such as Academician Zhao ErMi of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, and Dr. Peter Pritchard of the United States, who have highly evaluated the work carried out in the research base. At present, the base has an area of about 200 m2 of accommodation and office space, equipped with motorbikes, small generators and other living appliances, which can simultaneously accommodate more than 20 people to carry out teaching and scientific research work.
