Published more than 20 papers in iScience, Marine Pollution Bulletin, Ecology and Evolution and other journals.

Systematically carry out field ecology and conservation genetics of endangered chelonians, discover a new species of the genus Sacalia bealei, Hainan Sacalia quadriocellata, and a natural hybrid, Zhaoqing S. quadriocellata, and classify the genus Sacalia bealei into seven evolutionary significant units, which has enriched the species and subspecies level diversity of the genus Sacalia bealei and enhanced its conservation uniqueness. Carried out a series of long-term studies on Chelonia mydas, a national-level protected animal, in the Xisha Islands, and found that the C. mydas in the Xisha Islands is an independent geographical population. And identified the current status and causes of heavy metals, plastics and microplastics pollution in the nesting grounds of the C. mydas in the Xisha Islands, which is of great significance to the conservation of the Xisha Islands' sea turtle populations and to the strengthening of the management of the turtle's habitats; revealed the important habitats of C. mydas in the South China Sea through satellite tracking, and provided scientific and technological support for the establishment of sea turtle protection zones and marine national parks; revealed the problem of illegal trade exacerbated by the large demand for sea turtles in China's oceanographic museums and aquariums, and developed a set of molecular detection systems to quickly determine the paternity of the sea turtles and the origin of the place of birth, which is useful for strengthening the management of artificial breeding and combating illegal trade of sea turtles.
